corridor or hallway

CORRIDOR

and DOORS!!

You know how some people say, “Same but not”? That’s how it is with corridors and hallways.

Going down the rabbit hole, as I am prone to doing, Google has this to say about the two:

A hallway is a corridor, but a corridor is not always a hallway

Nice. Further explanation is:

Both are in a building, used as a passageway, both narrow, with doors on the sides. However, a corridor is not always the same as a hallway. A corridor can also be outside a building, on ships and trains, which is not the case when someone is talking about a hallway.

This is a corridor. Inside a building. Not too narrow, though. With a door. Although looking closely at the door, I don’t see a room on the other side of the door.

But that is for another post…

  1. Great topic. I love hallways and doors. Lovely photo. Corridors can be such poetic ideas. Thanks Lois.

Hmmmmm, looks like a hallway to me! I don’t think I will ever be on a ship or train, so hallway it is.

Confusing. I. Sitting outside at my campsite that has no corridors or hallways. I like it.

    Thanks for the explanation, Lois.

Don’t ask me why (it has nothing to do with my or what I know of your history) but this photo makes me think of a mental institution.

Oh, I can see that, Dan. This was in an old building in Alabama. I don’t remember what the building was, but I do remember that it was being closed down. It was more lively inside than the picture shows, but still…😬

  6. Fab photo, Lois! Love the light and shadow artwork! 🙂
I’ve been in a lot of hallways…not sure I’ve ever been in a corridor. HA! Okay, I’m sure I have! Oh! That reminds me of something… “Butter.” “Parkay.” “Hmm…I’m confused.” “Well, I’m amused.” “Well, I’m Parkay!” 😛 Hallway. Corridor. Butter. Parkay. Tomato. Tomahto. Potato. Potahto. Eek! I think I went down the wrong passageway. 😮 Ooh, I love doors! When I find one I’ll make my dramatic exit…
    (((HUGS))) ⏩⏪🔀🔁🔼🔽🔄🔃🔙 HA! 🙃😁🚪(I found a door!)
PS…Hope someone else, also, remembers that old Parkay commercial!

Oooh! Don’t you have the biggest temptation to put a rag rug down in the middle of this, race to it like crazy, jump on it, and slide the rest of the way? Or skate? I’d never thought of the difference between hallway and corridor. Either way, it’s meant for a race. I like it. And now I know the difference between corridor and hallway!

I frequently have dreams about long, winding hallways–I think of those as corridors.

It looks like you may have narrowed it down Lois. It does look like an institutional corridor with chairs to sit and wait for your appointment or ECT. The ladder is an added dimension as well.
    Love the perspective too.

    Thanks for joining in 😀

    And when’s a door not a door?

    When it’s ajar silly 😀
