ABSENT…present, present, absent…
For Dan’s doors…he’ll love this!
Someone very clever decided, “You know what? Dogs can’t read, so absent letters I’ll just have pictures so they will know exactly what to do.”
I don’t even want to think what is the difference in doggie restrooms between the sign with the hydrant and the other sign on the door without.
Please talk this over with your dog and get back with me.
Woof!

I saw the alert on my phone and thought, “What’s this? Lois? Doors? Dogs?” This is a great capture. Maybe the space behind the door with the hydrant has targets for the boy dogs. You know, nothing like decorating something. Thanks for joining us ๐

I must admit I did a bit of a happy dance to have something to contribute to your doors, Dan! ๐
These doors were at an airport, no less…I was intrigued, to say the least.

You figure our cats sit there and roll their eyes at this ‘dog’ nonsense.

I’ve started seeing doggie pee spots in rooms like this at airports. I guess more people are traveling with dogs. Maybe the one without the hydrant is for the other kind of doggie necessity.

‘the other kind of doggie necessity–that’s what I was thinking, too. This was at an airport…I had no idea. I took this photo several years ago–who knew it was becoming a thing? ๐คจ

Cute! I like finding bathroom doors with funny emblems on them. I’d say the hydrant is for boys, and the other is for girls. But are these doggie bathrooms, or people bathrooms? haha ๐

Oh, gosh–that is a good question! Many years ago, I had a rescue Maltese who the vet assured me was female, but when she had to go, she lifted her leg like a male. Can’t you picture her sitting in front of these doors going, “now which one, which one….?” ๐

Lots of female dogs lift their legs to pee. Some say it’s because they want to be or are dominant dogs. I think it sometimes happens because they learned to pee that way from another dog. Another theory is (mine) is because they want to.

My little female Maltese was pretty dominant. She walked in the house, looked around, and pretty much told my other dog, “This stuff? It’s mine now.” I rescued her from the streets but it was pretty apparent that she had been mistreated so maybe that was her tough-girl act.

I bet it was her tough girl act.

Coop says, “Oh, SweetLois! Wowza! Potty-Places for doggies! YAY! But…we doggies don’t always pay attention to the signs. ‘Cause when a dog’s gotta’ go, we gotta’ go. We’ll lift our leg pretty much anywhere. Did you know when it comes to #1…sometimes female dogs lift their leg…sometimes male dogs squat. And then there’s #2. I’m not even gonna’ go there. You’re welcome.” ๐ฉ

Years ago, my little female rescue Maltese used to lift her leg to go. I was a bit concerned. Vet said, “meh.” OK, then….
Thanks for all the info, little Coop! ๐

If you want my opinion, and I know you donโt, the door with the hydrant is for males, canine or human! Little lady dogs wouldnโt go near a hydrant!
This is a great picture Lois. It certainly met the requirements of Thursday Doors!
Thanks for a good laugh! ๐โ๐ฆบ Ginger

I’m sure Dan was so impressed, Ginger. My first time posting a door to his blog! ๐
That is funny to think about male/female dog restrooms. Can’t you picture a male dog pulling on the leash, “Wrong door, Mom!!! I’m not going there!”

Hi Mrs. Lois, Teddy Bear T. Dog, here. Martha says that sign is for humans and it won’t mean anything to dogs. I have NO idea what she’s talking about. She also says she needs more information about the door without the hydrant, but her theory is maybe it isn’t an automatic door. As for me, it seems humans are confused a lot of the time anyway. All that matters is food, walks, and affection. Your pal forever and ever, Teddy Bear T. Dog ๐พโค๏ธ

Dear sweet Teddy–you are the voice of reason. Humans are a strange lot. Someone probably thought that was a cute idea. Or something like that. Love Mrs. Lois ๐

That’s not a hydrant. It’s a warning that the blue aliens like to snack on dogs.

Dammit. So that ‘Caution’ sign has nothing to do with automatic doors!!

I’m sure all the dog lovers can figure this out. They can read the dog’s mind. I think the door with the hydrant is for humans also because they need access to the hydrant.

I’m with you, Miriam–leave this to the dog lovers to figure out! ๐
